Invitation Workshop on Post-conflict Visioning Labs
2016-01-28
How can institutions of higher education engage with the crises in the Middle East beyond the pressing demand for integration of refugees scholars?
Seeking to answer this question, the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics
(IIIEE) and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies (CMES) at Lund University, Sweden is launching a joint
initiative for Post-Conflict Sustainability Visioning Labs. The Visioning Labs will serve as catalysts and
convening platforms to deliver both new learning/networking opportunities for the migrant scholars as
well as to enable the creation of Sustainable Futures Platform for Post-Conflict Reconstruction.
The platform will be a pluridisciplinary network of groups working at various departments with projects
relating to sustainable reconstruction. Participating partners can thereby mutually benefit from each
other’s expertise, pool resources, work across disciplinary borders and increase focus on the concerns
of the region.
In this regard, it will be our pleasure to invite you to participate in the first planning workshop
on 11 February 2016 at Lund University.
The workshop aims at presenting and discussing the initiative with internal and external stakeholders in
order to enlarge the partnerships and invite others to join and benefit from the Visioning Lab. Moreover,
the workshop will create a shared platform to work with refugees’ issues in Europe and their future
home countries over the coming years. For further information, please see attached concept note and
workshop agenda.
The workshop will take place in the Aula at the IIIEE, Tegnérsplatsen 4, from 9:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Looking forward to your participation in the workshop!
