  • Consumption

Tullia's PhD research seeks to understand everyday practices that consume water, such as using laundry, personal hygiene and washing-up. She is investigating why cleanliness expectations are increasing despite our raising awareness of the imperative to save water and energy. she uses domestic water and energy consumption, time use surveys, observations and interviews to illuminate this question. This multi-methods approach provides different insights into changing social conventions. Understanding how and why collective conventions change is imperative in sustainable water consumption.
